How many passwords do you
have? Maybe 5, 6 or more? If you’re lucky, you have one that works
everywhere. If you've been phished, though, your luck has run out.
Most of us have to remember several combinations of passwords to keep our
identity safe, to combat phishing and to accommodate merchants’ marketing
efforts. How will user-centric identity technologies like Open Space and the
use of InfoCards offer an alternative to password alphabet soup? Steve
Anderson, identity management product manager at BMC Software offers insight
into the latest identity management buzz words: OpenID, Microsoft CardSpace,
and InfoCard.
In less than thirty minutes, Steve Anderson explains the difference between
enterprise identity and user-centeric identity management; clarifies the
confusion around OpenID, Microsoft CardSpace and InfoCard; demonstrates how
CardSpace can help close the gaps in OpenID like authentication; and
explains what it will take for users to be weened off of passwords. Steve
also discusses BMC’s plan to support InfoCards, as well what’s coming up in
the new Identity Management for .NET 5.5 release. Listen to this
podcast to learn about the latest identity management technology as well as
what might happen in the future.
