The Art of Community
Next week I’ll be participating in “The Art of Community” panel at OSCON. The other panelists are a marquis lineup of community players: Dawn Foster, Danese Cooper, Karl Fogel, Sulamita Garcia, Geir Magnusson, Jimmy Wales. Here’s the overview of what we’ll be discussing:
Online communities have been a fundamental element of open source culture for years. As community experts, what have we learned about dealing with difficult people, trolls, and other disruptive influences in our communities? What qualities and practices make an open source community run successfully? How can our open source community expertise be applied to improve Web 2.0 communities? What can we learn from Web 2.0 communities about ease of use and community building? How can technologies like Ajax, wikis, blogging, and more be used to improve open source communities? If you are interested in taking your community to the next level or are interested in building a unique community, you can attend our session and discuss these questions and more with our panel of community experts. Dawn Foster, Director of Developer Relations, Jive Software |
So if you get a few free moments Thursday afternoon around 4:30 PM, join us for a lively discussion.

I am sponsoring a vendor independent BOF session this week at OSCON 2007 that will look at the gaps between products like Tivoli, HP, and BMC vs. Hyperic, ZenOSS, Groundwork along with Nagios and Zabbix. I have invited other vendors to attend and would to have some BMC SME's in attendance.
