Good point about the friend-application interaction on facebook. Perhaps a facebook-like documentation system could have applications such as "top" and "recommended," so that you could have lists of what parts of the doc are most useful for people in your network.
I wasn't suggesting, however, that the documentation itself would be written or modified by users (as in a wiki), but that comments on the documentation could be added and shared by users. There is still the question of liability, but if the official and user-provided sections are clearly identified, I believe that the risk would be limited.
