Yes: Mint got it right, and right out of the box. 1440x900
To be fair, I have changed a few variables here:
1) Mint 3.0 was what I used to have on the D620, and when I re-installed Mint, I put back on 3.1.
2) I am a variable: Now that I know what the real resolution is, I would not try ot force it to something else.
Hibernate, standby, ACPI, etc all work better with Mint than OpenSUSE or Fedora 7. However, lets be fair about that too: Dell pre-installs Ubuntu. Mint is based off Ubuntu. If Dell did anything to help Linux work better with their BIOS, then Ubuntu gets the benefits first, and it might take time to filter out to the other distros.
On the other hand, SUSE is a pre-install in IBM/Lenovo gear, and given your experience with your T series, as well as mine, I am expecting a much better OpenSUSE experience on the T41. I'll try and get that done betweeen my Pune India and Vancouver Canada Trips to verify that is true, but you have a T41 much like mine with a great OpenSUSE install experience, so I am expecting the same.
