Most on Ubuntu 6.10 here

OpenSUSE 10.2 has continued to work for me. I admit I have not had to deal with any of the areas you mention. I was just starting to look at how to put a bootable Linux on the new 2GB Flash fob I bought this last weekend, and was thinking to use the 10.2 laptop to build it, but I think you just waved me off that one! In fact, it looks like Ubuntu may not be a good choice for that one either.

The laptop here at the office runs OK, but at the end of the day I find myself using Ubuntu 6.10 desktop more and more. 6.10 does things that make me crazy sometimes. It was a real pain to get VMWare server going, so I backed off Server and just use the pre-packaged VMWare player that is in one of the Ubuntu archives.

So, I have in a way left 10.2 behind, but not for 10.1 like you, but for a whole other distro.

10.2 is a view of where SUSE is headed with their product line, so it is interesting to have it around. At the end of the day though, I just seem to float way to using Ubuntu or Mint though. That can't be good for OpenSUSE. Technical issues on the right, usage issues like SLAB on the left.

Really: I still hate SLAB. There should be a package someplace that restores the GNOME menus the way they were. But I have not found it, despite a fair amount of poking at it. They have chased me back to KDE on OpenSUSE 10.2. I like KDE, so that is not terrible *for me*, but I think it is not smart to treat folks that might love Gnome as their primary desktop manager to make your version of Gnome so... errr... non-standard shall we say. Sure, have it as an option for Gnome. Have it as a default even. But have a way off it! KDE had a non-standard look and feel under 10.2 as well, but it was easy to get back to a standard KDE desktop.

But I digress. I hope you are able to get your issues with 10.2 resolved. If not, I'd be interested in knowing that you gave up.
