Answer: Nothing. In fact, as I type this, I am accessing Exchange 2003 from the new Mint 6 RC 1, which runs exactly the same Evolution bits as Ubuntu 8.10
Having said that, I can easily believe that I am just getting lucky with my setup. It appears to me that Evolution has a great number of timing related issues in it, and so I may have hit upon a fortuitous combination of hardware.
Here hoever, FWIW, are all my Evolution related bits that are installed:
steve@lagunitas ~ $ dpkg -l | grep -i evolution
ii evolution 2.24.1-0ubuntu2 groupware suite with mail client and organiz
ii evolution-common 2.24.1-0ubuntu2 architecture independent files for Evolution
ii evolution-data-server 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 evolution database backend server
ii evolution-data-server-common 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 architecture independent files for Evolution
ii evolution-data-server-dbg 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 evolution database backend server with debug
ii evolution-dbg 2.24.1-0ubuntu2 debugging symbols for Evolution
ii evolution-exchange 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 Exchange plugin for the Evolution groupware
ii evolution-exchange-dbg 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 Exchange plugin for Evolution with debugging
ii evolution-plugins 2.24.1-0ubuntu2 standard plugins for Evolution
ii evolution-plugins-experimental 2.24.1-0ubuntu2 experimental plugins for Evolution
ii libcamel1.2-14 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 The Evolution MIME message handling library
ii libebackend1.2-0 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 Utility library for evolution data servers
ii libebook1.2-9 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 Client library for evolution address books
ii libecal1.2-7 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 Client library for evolution calendars
ii libedata-book1.2-2 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 Backend library for evolution address books
ii libedata-cal1.2-6 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 Backend library for evolution calendars
ii libedataserver1.2-11 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 Utility library for evolution data servers
ii libedataserverui1.2-8 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 GUI utility library for evolution data serve
ii libevolution3.0-cil 0.17.5-0ubuntu1 CLI bindings for Evolution
ii mail-notification-evolution 5.4.dfsg.1-1build1 evolution support for mail notification
ii nautilus-sendto 1.1.0-0ubuntu1 integrates Evolution and Pidgin into the Nau
ii openoffice.org-evolution 1:2.4.1-11ubuntu2 Evolution Addressbook support for OpenOffice
It still is not perfect: i still have the problem where if I do a mass delete from one computer running Evolution it messes up the message counts / Inbox appearance for another, different instance of Evolution. All I have to do to fix that is delete the index and have it rebuilt, but it gets old.
I'll be putting together a new post about all of this shortly....
