We had the same experience. We tried it. It did not work. In fact, on our traces we could not tell it was doing *anything*. It seems to be a No-OP, at least right now.

I'm the guy that wrote the mails that Steve refers to above.
I've recently built and patched another Fedora Core 6 box and I'm pleased to say that the nordirplus mount option now seems to be implemented.
The updates installed this kernel:
2.6.22.2-42.fc6 (x86_64)
and Linux automount version 5.0.1-0.rc3.33.
My auto.master for dealing with Tru64 is now:
/home_a yp:auto.home_a nordirplus
and this seems to be as good a workaround for the Tru64 server as this former hack:
/home_a yp:auto.home_a nfsvers=2
A look at /proc/mounts definitely shows nordirplus in the options - which wasn't the case a short while ago (at the time I mailed Steve).

Someone's been busy :-)
