ITIL in increments...

Posted by Tom Bishop at 2006-08-30 00:58
I think you would be impressed with two thoughts. First, most of our ITIL implementations, including those for large organizations, start of fairly small and take a decidely incremental approach. So, as Forrester suggests, it's possible (and actually strongly recommended) to swallow ITIL one small bite at a size. The other is how easy it can be to integrate other components, even those from other vendors, into an existing or new ITIL implementation. We do this all the time, and have had very little difficulty. In our experience (now in the hundreds of implementations), organization size is not a factor; what matters is how important IT is to the business. The more important, the greater the need (and bottom-line value) for ITIL.

OK, Tom, this is good. You are giving me some points to make as I try and sell this up the food chain. We can implement this in bite-sized chunks. Those are calming words, but I need to add the cost and time into my report. What do you suggest I do? I'm still shopping, not buying.
