Tom,
You certainly talk the ITIL talk. But, how realistic is it for a medium-sized company with a fairly up-to-date ITIL configuration using SAP or Oracle to reconfigure their IT structure and, as I'm sure you would like, implement a BSM strategy? Wouldn't it be like ripping the heart and lungs out of a 70-year-old and replacing them with your BSM systems?
ITIL in increments...

I think you would be impressed with two thoughts. First, most of our ITIL implementations, including those for large organizations, start of fairly small and take a decidely incremental approach. So, as Forrester suggests, it's possible (and actually strongly recommended) to swallow ITIL one small bite at a size. The other is how easy it can be to integrate other components, even those from other vendors, into an existing or new ITIL implementation. We do this all the time, and have had very little difficulty. In our experience (now in the hundreds of implementations), organization size is not a factor; what matters is how important IT is to the business. The more important, the greater the need (and bottom-line value) for ITIL.
